Videos...

As most of you know - our little Toby had a hard start with wet lung that he recovered very quickly from, Praise God! Here is a couple videos from his arrival that Sep and the nurses took of them pulling about 20ccs out fluid out of him that he had ingested as well as one of Sep cutting the cord.

He's doing so great! We went yesterday for his 1 week check up and he's 8lb 5oz. When we discharged from the hospital he was 7lbs 14oz. So he's well on his way back to his birth weight of 8lbs 9oz. (Was that too much number info???) He's in the 50th percentile for his weight and 90th for his height! He loves to sleep. No, he LOVES to sleep!!!

His big brother LOVES him so much. Last night he wanted to share his milk with him before bedtime and walloped him a few times with his sippee cup. It was too cute...yes, Toby was fine. But at one point while Sep was reading to us before bedtime Toby started getting fussy (all of us on the loveseat - Toby on Tucker's legs, where he likes him to be) so I picked him up to burp him a bit. Tucker looked up at me with the "what do you think you're doing" look and grabbed ahold of Toby's shirt and pulled him right back down next to him. And, he LOVES to give him kisses.

I'm so thankful that Tucker seems to be adapting well.

On another note...please see Aaron & Jen's blog and pray for Auti (Autumn) - she's feeling pretty miserable these days.

Do you think they look similar as infants?? We do! :)

The Faces of Tucker...

Tucker's personality is coming out more and more and he is so animated in his facial expressions...he just constantly cracks us up! Here are a few from this past Sunday morning.

We're having a ball at home...we'll post some pics tomorrow. Sep is home for a couple more days and we're looking forward to some quality family time.

We're both so so thankful for our new family...just overwhelmed with love. Thank you God for the gift of life.

Going Home...

We're going home today - my new son and I. We're so happy to be able to go join Tucker & Daddy at home. Toby has a little...procedure...this AM (that most little boys have) :) and as soon as we get the all clear we're heading home.

He's doing wonderful - thanks for your prayers for him. We're thrilled at how he bounced back so quickly from Wet lung. Dr. Juarbe told us to expect up to 5 days before he was fully recovered from it - he didn't even have issues all day long yesterday!

I'm sure they'll be more blogging in the future...with me being off until mid-September and Toby getting me up in the night! :)

A Deep Breath

We were able to hold our sweet little boy about 6:30ish tonight. How wonderful it felt. He is now on room air 100% and they are close to weaning him off of the IV as well he is off of the heart and pulse ox monitoring.

He's precious. He's doing great.

Toby is Here!!!

Hi! It's Toby & Tucker's Mom here!!! How fun that I am able to send this out from our hospital room!

Toby David Shoemaker was born at 8:04am weighing in at 8lbs; 9oz and is 20 3/4 inches long. He's a big boy!!

I have yet to see him; and none of us have held him yet; but God is good. Toby has what they call "Wet Lung". Too much fluid was ingested.

They have already since his birth pulled off 20 ccs of fluid and he's spit up/thrown up 3 times to get it out on his own. He's in an oxygen hood and has an IV for fluids. Dr. Juarbe ordered x-rays for him right away to make sure his lungs were fine. His lungs are fully developed; just too much fluid ingestion. His blood gases were also too low thus the reason for the oxygen hood. His x-rays showed just too much fluid stuck in there; but his body is working hard at getting it out. I hear he's a bit fiesty and just lifted the hood right up off his face. :) His breathing is quite rapid right now as well which is another reason for constant observation in the nursery and not getting to see Mommy yet.

Sep has been able to see him much; but not yet hold him. He keeps going into the nursery to check him out and give me the latest. The initial talk was that Toby would have to go to Saginaw to the NICU; but seems to be doing well so hopefully we wo'nt be going that route. If he is not in the room with me by 5pm they will attempt to get me up and moving and wheel me into the nursery to see our new baby boy!!!

Ok - Sep just came back with some new pictures again...so here we go!!!! Enjoy and Praise God for loving His children today.

Sep just said that they will repeat the blood gas in 2 hrs and if it's good he can come into the room with me and out of constant observation.

I hope this all make sense!!!
